LA-Part 1

I'm back from LA
and what an amazing weekend full of
fun, friends, and food.

Could life get any better?
Sure could, especially when we decided to go for a bike ride along Venice Beach

Kristine (birthday girl) and Steph (aren't these gals darling?)

This was just the start to our many adventures of the weekend.

Stay tuned for more!

Sunny CA

I was in California (again) this last weekend and can I just tell you how much I was loving the weather!
I more than enjoyed my time outside walking around Pasadena

(my sister in the pics, not me)

and laughing with these guys.

And having a long overdue photo shoot!

Here's a little preview while I finish editing the shots.

I better get them finished and posted before my next California adventure this weekend.

Quote Wall

I have a quote wall.
Right here at work.
It's actually thoughts that my past coworker (miss her) and I would type to each other while the other was on the phone, with someone or talking to someone that, well, sparked the thought.....or annoyance.

And because it's April 1st and it's just a day to laugh, I think i'll post them all here for your enjoyment, and yes, these are real.............real funny!

RE: Our past "receptionist" who put all blonde jokes to shame
I wonder if sugar puff over there caught on or if she's just like "la la la lala"

If she only had a clue how things really are in the world.
I'm not even sure that she should have a driver's license. Her directions to places should include which unicorn to turn by and how many gumdrops she has to pass before she gets there.

RE: Some of the sub contractors we deal with
Go away creepy old bald guy! We do not do those kinds of things here...like listening intently on the boring things that are being verbally vomited out of your mouth.

This idiot is going t be kicking himself in the junk when he doesn't get the job.
"I knew i shouldn't have sent the bid twice!! Dang It! STUPID STUPID STUPID!!"

Hey guy that won't shut up....SHUT YOUR HOLE!! Blah blah blah
And news flash, your doors aren't any different than anyone else's doors. You just want us to think they are. And we don't care if you're available 24/7 because WE'RE not even available 24/7. Go away
And distressing's not all that special. Distressed doors are as common as distressed denim now. Sorry. 11 years......I have feces in my colon that's 11 years old, buzz off. No, that's ok, Mr. Pushy Door Manufacturer, I don't want to hear the "one more thing that you have to discuss"

RE: Past worker : He was afraid of the boss and had little man syndrome
I bet the little turd wishes he were never born...lol. Just bite the bullet and get it over with, CALL HIM

Take THAT! No I didn't email those things out, you fag. Do our job, you don't get paid for nothing!

Oh, I bet! What an A. He's just trying to cut corners any way possible. The only reason he wants us to do all of his work is so he has someone to blame when it doesn't get done instead of him being the one getting reamed. Then he has the balls to say "I seriously wouldn't mind coming back here" today.
YEA RIGHT! You're already gone as far as we're concerned buddy! You're stepping on your own wiener. That's def. hypothetically because he is probably smaller than my pinky-YUCK

FOR REAL! Like come on, it's not as bad as you think, just get some balls and do it-RETARD!

RE: Normal daily banter
fdsidisfusfsrsefcvasa.........YEA!

oh, and "KISS MY A*$"

Food for thought: If we can work with him, we can work with anyone. It's time to take our dresses off, get our brass balls out of the drawer and let em swing! Tea party's over, it's BUSINESS TIME!

If that's not stick'n it to the man, I don't know what is.

(the following names have been changed to protect the innocent)(whatever)
"Molly, It's Sally! What's going on with these subs, are they going to get these jobs or what?"
"Well Sally, what's going on with you? Are you going to Grab my Boob's or what?"
(4 minutes later)
in a dragged out monotone mans voice"Hey Molly, it's Jessie. I heard you asked Sally if she could G your B's.
I just wanted to see if I could help you out with that since i'm a big lesbo"
(10 minutes later)
hi pitched voice "Hi Molly, it's Heather! I hear you like to get your B's G'd!! ME TOO!!!"

Breakfast......

of champions?  I beg to differ.

When I was in Greece, sitting on our private patio eating the delicious breakfast that was delivered, and set up for us every morning, my favorite was the Greek yogurt with fresh fruit.  Greek yogurt is a bit more thick and they serve it plain so I always added a bit of honey or jam- YUM!!!

Well guess what I bought at the store yesterday and enjoyed for breakfast:

AND...... it was honey flavored!  OPA!!!

This is the breakfast of the Greek Gods!

Lucky You!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Feel free to put this on a t-shirt, just make sure you send me one!

Cafe Free-Yo!

Yesterday I ended the work day up in Bountiful. So instead of driving down to Holladay to get a quick work out then drive all the way back up to Bountiful by 6 to meet Jana for our weekly Temple Tuesday (granted it was changed to Wednesday because of Tuesdays lame dating "workshop"), I decided to relax a little and head over to Borders and then Starbucks.  All together now....

  "Aahhhhhh!"

Even better than that was after, when we went to Cafe Rio to feed our hungry souls and bellies.  It just so happened though that they were closing and cleaning the grill so we couldn't get our quesadilla.  no bueno.
Instead we asked for a few tortillas to go with our queso (with chips and lots of pico).

MUY BUENO!!

Now I may have taken Spanish a few (3) times in my life. I've gotten A's but that means nothing if you don't actually use it. I always forget it, hence the number of times I've tried learning.
But I will tell you this. You better believe I understood the guy when he said it was free!

"COMIDA GRATIS!"
(free meal for those of you who don't hablan espanol)

S O S

This week has been insane!  I mean INSANE!!  I have been completely busy every night and I still have 4 more days loaded.  My room is a mess and I might just need to call in some Relief Aid for Disaster Clean Up! If you want to see what Chile or Haiti looks like in person, just come over!
So what have I been doing? Well Monday I went to Westminster College to hear George Ayittey, PHD as part of the Weldon J Taylor Executive Lecture Series.  Georgy Ayittey is a brilliant man, distinguished Economist, and President of Free Africa Foundation.  He spoke mainly on the relationship between economic development, security, and freedom in Africa, mostly in relationship to the political system and tribes.  It was fascinating and very informative.
 I really enjoyed it.

Unlike last nights events.

First it started off with a spin cycle at the gym where I learned the lesson of wearing dental floss undies. *note to self, the next time you go, wear granny panties with the biggest p-liner possible, your tush will thank you later! Now how's that for padding!
After the little bike session of peddling to the beat of some new age techno (which only made me imagine I was in the Castro biking up Twin Peaks) I ran home, threw my clothes in the giant mess of a room, and put on my girly face (and outfit) to head over to another lecture or "workshop".
It was awful!
The entire time I kept saying to myself, and the girlfriends I came with, "Don't tell me something I already know ok!"  I swear I was in a SATC episode. The one where Charlotte needs more hope and turns to a self-help program.  She brings Carrie along to the lecture and asks the speaker why her affirmations aren't working. The speaker tells Charlotte she needs to put herself out there, but Carrie stands up for her friend and says,

"Believe me, she's out there."

We're all out there but there's only so much a girl can do until the rest is up to the man. We know how it works, but what we can't figure out is how to get IT.  Why don't the guys pursue, approach, hunt, all those things they are supposed to do and naturally do as men?
After the "what do girls think the guy thinks" charade, I was chatting with one of the girls over pizza and just how much we get it. We've been in this scene for so long, we could tell you story after story. We weren't told anything new or enlightening, other than a reminder that we were all (the 36 girls and 20 guys) single.

"If you stay single long enough,
you're supposed to get wiser about dating;
what men to pick, where to meet them.
But what really made any of us experts?
Wasn't our single status
a neon sign
that we couldn't get it right?"
Carrie Bradshaw - Sex and the City

The only thing we did learn was that maybe we should have stayed home. Turned off our neon sign and called it a night.

I got a package......

......and it's BIG!!!

I have been waiting years for this day and it's finally here.
Now just a little assembly required and then the final picture revealed.

Are you as giddy as I am? Because you should be!

MIA....again

I may fly like paper and get high like planes.......wait.......i mean.......
(I may or may not have purchased 3 flights to California this week, and it's only Wednesday! But we'll save that for another post) I am M.I.A., or will be for the next few days.
You see, my sister is in town. And when she is in town, things happen. We plan, we play, we eat, drink, and are very merry! So instead of you biting your nails waiting for my next post, I am just letting you all know now that I won't be on for a few days..or 5. Unless, that is, something funny happens or we play tricks on the kids like that one time that was just hilarious or that other time that happens every time. You'd think they'd learn!

Any who, that is where i'll be.  Ooooh, maybe my little purchase will come and I can blog about that because I am SO excited!! ding ding!

40 days

or so....
I have decided to participate in Lent.  I've always been intrigued about it so I figure what better way to learn than to do?  So I have given up meat until April 3. For those of you who know me, I LOVE MEAT, especially steak or bacon. However, this has been really easy for me!
Also, I have made a little deal to see how long I can go wearing stripes. Yup, that's right, stripes.  So far it's been a week and I haven't had to rewear anything and I still have a lot to wear!  It's amazing how many outfits I've put together and pulled out items I hadn't worn in a year!

So next time you see me wearing stripes days in a row, and eating a head of lettuce, you'll know why!

Happy Song

This song/video makes me happy and here are a few reasons why:

"hey, heeeey"

Ukelele
brick interior loft (my dream)
city corner cafe
people eating outside
aviator glasses (rowrrr)
painting & art

"hey, heeeey"

the words: they are so great!
I heart Mr. Mister
I can totally cut a rug
clapping
catchy beat

Also because it reminds me of the time back in 2003, my first semester at the Academy of Art University, where some friends and I skipped our class, snuck onto a boat and enjoyed a free concert by BNL and Train on Alcatraz with San Francisco as it's backdrop.

So for you, ENJOY!  I hope this song makes you smile as it does me and puts a little spring in your step........oooh spring, now that sounds nice!  :)

Happy Valentines Day!

Remember that one time we were all thankful to NOT be dating this guy
Or the time your mind was blown with this amazing awesomeness!

This year i'm going to be a little selfish.  Share with you a little of me, the things that make me happy, make me smile and the things I LOVE.

Accidentally overhearing someone say something nice about you.
First Third kisses
(1st kisses are too awkward and 2nd kisses you're still figuring it out.
But the third kiss? Now THERE's a kiss!)
Making new friends and spending time with the old ones.
Singing in the bathroom
Hot chocolate
Carameled Apples
Holding hands with someone you care about
Watching a sunset
Sleeping in
Taking long, hot showers
Starbucks
Knowing that somebody misses you
Playing in the rain
Accomplishing a new project
Bike rides.......long bike rides!
Sleeping in my bed after I've been away
Getting mail
Listening to my favorite songs on repeat
Taking pictures
Arriving just as the plane is boarding
People who just get me.

And to all of you that I hold near and dear to me.....................................................

I'm always amazed with those bloggers who post something everyday.  Everyday like a faithful blogger should, and good for them!
Then there are some who post several times a day.  Not just once, but once in the morning, maybe a little something in the afternoon, and something later that evening. Who has time for this? I mean really?
There are days where I have plenty of free time but the last thing I actually think about doing is visiting my own blog to update it. There are numerous things on my mind constantly (hence my need to make lists), and even events, joys, trials, and tears that are going on in my life as we speak but i'm not about to tell you all about. Hell, most of you don't even leave comments so really, I dont' think ANYONE reads this thing.
Sometimes I think maybe I should just indulge you all into the mind of Uzi. But then I think, "they have already seen Big Fish (which should actually be my sisters life since she over exagerates EVERYTIHNG)or The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus."
If you REALLY saw what goes on in my mind half the time, you'd be laughing one minute then instantly thinking "whaaaat!?"
I don't even know where i'm going with this post, or how I got on this subject (probably because i'm a bit scatterbrained at times (hence the lists)), let alone how this post got so long. I never talk this much, let alone blog this much in one post. I surprise myself every day.

Things on my mind
The time my sister and I were sitting in church as the organ started to warm up for the closing song, we imagined the congregation slowly lifting of and flying around the chapel shooting lazer beams at everyone.

"oh I, I just died in your arms tonight. Must have been something you said....."

One more thing I love about the Chinese: Their Jump Rope!
"2. 4. 6. 8. in. out. on. off. on. off. twisties. twirlies. diamond"

I left the house this morning confident and looking good and didn't see anyone of importance all day today- what a waste!  Better than yesterday where I left the house feeling like I looked great and later that day looking in the mirror thinking "I looked WAY better than this when I left the house!"

Has anyone else caught on that "lol" has gone from meaning, "laugh out loud" to "I have nothing else to say", also referred to as :)

The letters T and G are very close to each other on a keyboard. This recently became apparent to me when, trying to sound professional at work, I ended an email with "Regards"- or so I thought.
Looks like trying to sound grown up isn't doing me any favors.

I have 2314 songs on my Ipod and love everyone of them. Yet why do I find myself skipping song after song in my car?

The Circus, especially this one!

I haven't worn a coat all week. Not because it's warm outside, but because I think that if I dress like it's warm, Spring will come sooner.

Picturing my sister driving around town with all the kids in the gold car......HAA HA HAAA!

And a sweet sweet picture that makes me laugh every time!

and I quote:
"just making sure all of you crossed the finish line"

Alright, that's enough fun for one day, time to get back to work and kill it before I leave.
I hope you all enjoyed a little glimpse inside my mind.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!

Year of the Racist

I had a realization today:
I don't like Chinese food
In fact, I don't like Chinese people.

but Japs are different
they are taller
and don't have split pea eyes.
And basically rule modern technology
in the eastern hemisphere as far as i'm concerned.

(go ahead, judge away)

Ok, wait, Jacky Chan is pretty cool. And their acrobats are pretty amazing. Oh, and Panda Express, now that's good, well kind of, but not really, but the smell get's me every time. Oh, and the fireworks, who can't be grateful for those?
Ok. but. THAT's. IT!

What do our dreams mean?

This week has been crazy busy.  I've come accustomed to my busy routine but sometimes by body or mind have a way of showing me I have to take it easy.  I get so stressed with everything on my mind, and then I crash. Not your typical crash of getting sick or lazy, instead I get the craziest dreams. Last nights was no exception. It was near close to a nightmare and I still can't wrap my brain around the meaning of any part of it.
The only thing I can make of it is the song I had stuck in my brain right before I went to bed..........

It went a little something like this.

Have a good weekend!

Shoo fly don't bother me

A little email I received today that made me laugh. You're not THAT bored until you start doing this at work:

**One more day until the weekend!

What happens in Vegas.......

.....goes straight onto my blog!

Not much can be said for the weekend of Tom Jones and Las Vegas that shouldn't be experienced for yourself.  But let me be brief.....it was amazing!

Who do you go see Tom Jones with?
A group of fun gals

Along with my sister, where apparently we don't like our chins

 or our foreheads

And what do you take with you to a Tom Jones concert?
The biggest pair of skivies panties chonies underoos you can imagine.

And what do you do with said 'roos?  You dance with them and catch the attention of not only the bass player, but guitar player and piano player, resulting in them laughing histerically several times. And then you dance to the front of the stage, call the bass player over and delicately place them on the neck of the bass for not only him but the entire crowd to laugh and cheer wildly. And that's only a fraction of the hilarity that we entertained everyone with.
Like Tom Jones,  they loved us as much as we love him!

Flat Stanley

Ever heard of him? If not, let me tell you a little bit about him.
Flat Stanley is a 1964 children's book by Jeff Brown
Stanley Lambchop and his younger brother Arthur are given a big bulletin board by their Dad for putting pictures and posters on. He hangs it on the wall over Stanley's bed, but during the night the board falls from the wall, flattening Stanley in his sleep. He survives and makes the best of his altered state, and soon he is entering locked rooms by sliding under the door, and playing with his younger brother by being used as a kite. But one special advantage is that Flat Stanley can now visit his friends by being mailed in an envelope.

Flat Stanley was sent from California, by my niece. He decided to visit the local hero's of Utah:

Turns out he also decided to grab a bite to eat before really enjoying his freedom away from home.

Oh Stanley, you dirty little rascal you!

This week has been crazy......

.......... but it's FRIDAY!!!

Here's a little email I got today:

To Whom It May Concern:
Please stop working my sister so much so I can have her back.
This week just hasn't been the same.
Your lonesome soul,

Remember that one time, of the many times, when we decided the night before to go run a 10k? Remember, also, how we couldn't walk the rest of the day? Yea, those were some good times.

And to those of you who have never met my sister, this here is the tan version of me. Or the Ebony and Ivory of the Uzelac sisters. :)
