Tweet Tweet

There's a reason I don't tweet......aka Twitter
There's a reason I don't lay in the grass under large oak trees
There's a number of reasons why I love the images/design but not the real things.

I don't really "hate" but I could care less about birds, the real things.  To me they are flying rats (pigeons mainly but the others are related somewhere down the line)

When I was 5 our family was going down to Lake Powell for the weekend. It was my job, before getting in the car, to feed and water Sunny (yellow bird) and Brownie (brown bird). Yea, we were REAL creative as kids.

Well, the independent, strong willed, little rat like, Ramona Quimby of a child that I was didn't want to.  Instead of saying "no", I just walked inside the house, while the rest of the family sat in the wagon, and pretended like I was doing what I was asked.

Gig was up when we returned home after the long weekend in the middle of summer and both birds were dead in the kitchen sink.  I wasn't concerned that they were lying in their new resting place after searching for water, I was baffled how they got out of the cage.  (again, I was 5, and even today, I'm still baffled)

I did however decide to be sweet and find some jewelry boxes and have a proper burial service for them in the back yard.
Only to be outdone by my inquisitive nature to try to find them and dig them up less than 2 weeks later.

Sorry birds for not feeding you resulting in your death
Sorry family if I never told you and this is the first time you are hearing of this news
Sorry to myself for the beginnings of bad bird karma. (I constantly get pooped on)

"here I am, at 6 o'clock in the morning........"

well, more like 3 o'clock in the morning, but still thinking. (not about you)

I didn't get any sleep last night.

why?

thinking.

Yea, it's kinda new to me.
I don't usually sit and think much and I don't ever lose sleep.

But last night............ awful.

this stress is starting to take a toll on me.

Just a few things that were running through my mind all night as I lay in bed wide eyed:

  • email committee about meeting
  • send docs to Jayna
  • email reminder about Saturday morning
  • update master list
  • contact Jackson about golfing
  • send out needed equipment list
  • find needed equipment for weekend
  • find camping gear for myself
  • finalize truck and trailer for next weekend
  • type up hand out for Sunday
  • make activity and meal agenda on sheet for next weekend
  • find tables
  • finalize games
  • get items for games
  • figure out sound for announcements
  • email for members on items to bring
  • finalize screen with Mark
  • figure out how sound and night will work
  • measure warehouse and draw up plans
  • edit photos and make Photoshop corrections
  • ooh, find megaphone for announcements
  • what if no one shows up Saturday morning?
  • I need a break
  • I need a vacation
  • I need a stiff drink
  • register for lecture and pick classes
breathe Uzi, just breathe.

Weekend Getaway

You'd think I went to China, but i didn't.
Just San Francisco, but close right!?

May I introduce you to our D-Asia aka Day of Asia:

Spent my time with these lovely ladies
while we went on a walking tour of China Town.
Lot's of fun facts but i'll let you learn for yourself when you go.

Here are some shot's I took while there:

And look who I found, by Brazilian bff turned Asian!
(LOVE YOU SIL!)

Later that night we went to Japan Town to watch this:

GODZILLA VS MECHAGODZILLA
(with English subtitles)

It was so awesome that I may or may not have snapped a few pics

followed by watching Mulan when we got home to settle in for the night.

And that was just a fraction of the weekend! There was the Academy of Science, Ferry Building, BiRite, and a good movie with the WORST soundtrack, Love Story.

Good times, as usual, and beautiful clear weather which was unusual for SF.

Until next time.......

I..AM...IRONMAN - part 2

So with Rita off for the next, anticipated, 7 hours Steph and I decided a road trip was in order and ventured all around Southern Utah to see what the big hype was.

First stop:  Hurricane to see the 100 year old fruitcake
It was not in it's rightful location so we moved on.

Then is was off to see some familiar faces in Colorado City
Did you know that if the house isn't 100% complete, they don't have to pay taxes?
This was the most complete looking home we saw.

But everyone else was VERY WELL put together.

We were driving up and down the streets like Paparazzi!
The best was when Steph stopped the car
in the middle of the street
to tell these boys to we wanted to see them ride the goats,
to which they gladly obliged.

why do I have the theme song to Little House on the Prairie going on in my head?
If they had a show, would it be called Big House in the Commune?

Next it was off to Frontier Movie Land, where we had a little fun of our own on the sets.

Then off to the Moqui Cave-what a gem of history!

After, we realized we had to go through Zions National Park to get to our next destination that was on the other side.  Oh bummer-right!?

As we were driving by, I took a picture of these guys. I don't really know why, until now. What the heck was that lady doing?  Um, is there a new invisible camera of the 21st century I don't know about?

Aww, and here we are, all "natural" and sleep deprived.

After making our way through Zions,  which was a first for me, we ended up in Springdale for:

Apparently it's Barbra Streisands favorite. Who knew.
"According to Grandpa, bumbleberries are burple and binkel berries that grow on giggle bushes, so named because they giggle when the berries ripen and the bush begins to quake, and at the precise moment that they ripen, they giggle. If you were to eat a berry while it was giggling, you would spend the rest of your life giggling."

But really, it's just this: Typically used to describe mixed berries, pretty much anything on hand, which are combined and used in various recipes. Berries like blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and/or blueberries.

Next it was off to Rockville to see a ghost town.
The only thing "scary" we saw was the size of their post office or this old barn.

What WAS scary was found back in Hurricane: the 100 year old Fruitcake

and 100 year old Mouse

Back to the race to see Rita run in one of her loops.  These are the best pictures.
Just look at that guy huffing while Rita is all smiles. He tries to break for the pass (or get in our photos) but after working so hard compared to Rita's relaxed jog, she finally give's him a glance as if to say "really? Just pass already" and let's him go. HAA HAAA

Then it's back to smiles.

CONGRATULATIONS RITA!!!
You were the one who ran with me during my first Half Marathon and got me to do it in under 2 hours!
How could I NOT be there to support you?  Especially when this guy is running by........

I..AM...IRONMAN - part 1

Well, not me-obviously, but my friend Rita.
She has been training like a crazy person for the St. George Ironman.
Steph and I went down to meet up with friends and cheer her on.

The night started by finding a sweet picture of our good friend FIFE from his senior yearbook.

Of course we had to let him know the jewel of a find and had a hilarious conversation in our makeshift bed that I like to call the "birthing tub."  Since it was a mini version of LA's "hot tub"
Steph and I slept Yin & Yang style. It wasn't the best but better than the floor.

In the morning, it was off to the races, and we couldn't be more excited......see!

Just a few of the THOUSANDS of racers.
Look at that guy, not that one, the other guy, he's like 60!  What a man!

The gun went off it was a whirlwind of splashes. Can you see Rita?

How about now?
Yea neither could we. BUT WOW!

So after the 2 mile swim, it was time to get on one of these and ride like the wind for
the next 112 miles or approx 6 hours, give or take.

I snapped some sweet pics of some riders making some AWESOME faces! Pretty funny. The Coug is for all you Y fans out there and that's our girl #290 aka Smiles for miles.
I didn't ever see her NOT smiling the entire race.

Off for the next 112 miles.
